Remember Pasta Wiz, that “Harry Potter-themed” pasta bar people went nuts about when it opened earlier this year in Williamsburg? Well, apparently they sold enough noodles to expand, and they’re doing so on September 5th. Get ready, Greenwich Village.
Owner Alex Dimitrov will open a Snitch-sized outpost called Pasta Wiz Express on MacDougal Street between Bleecker and West 3rd Street, smack dab in prime Hogwarts NYU territory. Like the first restaurant, which promised piping hot plates of pasta three to five minutes after ordering, the new outlet will focus on fast casual pastas on the fly, a growing trend in the pasta pushing community.
“We became famous for the Harry Potter comparison, but people stayed for the incredible pasta, because it’s the best in the city,” Dimitrov bragged in the press release. Not everyone would agree with that assertion, least of all the NY Post, which called the Williamsburg original a “Chamber of Regrets.”
If references to hidden rooms housing gigantic, deadly snakes doesn’t dissuade you, the restaurant will offer a relatively inexpensive selection of pre-determined or DIY pasta bowls that Dimitrov says employ “organic, non-GMO ingredients, natural grass-fed beef and wild-caught seafood.”
